Kanjhawala Case: Locals Stage Protest Outside Witness Nidhi's House, Demands She Be Taken In Police Custody

Nidhi's mother's statements come in the wake of claims by Anjali’s mother who alleged that her daughter's death was a “well thought-out conspiracy.”

New Delhi: Locals on Thursday staged protest outside the residence of Kanjhawala case eyewitness Nidhi and demanded she be booked under relevant sections.

Woman, who claimed to be relatives and neighbours of deceased Anjali, demanded justice and alleged Nidhi was a part of the crime and that she should be taken in police remand.

Days after the horrific incident, Nidhi's mother came out in defence of her daughter and said she fled the spot as she was terrfied after the accident, news agency ANI reported.

“She was very nervous. She told me that some people have run a car over her friend, they tried to do the same with her but she ran away. The allegations deceased's mother is putting against my daughter is untrue,” ANI quoted Sudesh, mother of Nidhi, as saying.

Notably, Anjali Singh, a 20-year-old woman was killed after her scooty collided with a Baleno car in Delhi's Dwarka and was dragged by the car for about 12 kilometres on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. Anjali was with Nidhi on the scooty at the time of accident who fled the spot which has raised several questions.

“You would have got scared seeing Nidhi’s condition, she was so terrified,” Sudesh said.

Her statements come in the wake of claims by Anjali’s mother who alleged that her daughter's death was a “well thought-out conspiracy.”

Anjali's uncle Prem said that he suspected Nidhi's involvement in the death and demanded a CBI inquiry in the case.

“Nidhi came back home at 3 am. She told me a fatal accident has happened. She did not tell me that she was going to a party. She had just told me that she's going to Shelly's house," Sudesh said, adding, “We are not going to run away. Whatever I am saying is the truth. Nidhi and Anjali did not know the accused men.”

Meanwhile DCW chief S Maliwal said that they are not satisfied with Delhi Police’s investigation and demanded the case be transferred to CBI.

“I'm not satisfied with Delhi Police's action. I recommend that this case be transferred to CBI. Delhi Police told us they've not recovered Nidhi's phone till now. It's very important evidence, beyond my understanding why is it not with police till now,” Maliwal said.

“Police still haven't checked all CCTV footage from the 13km stretch or recorded 164(CrPC) statement of all eyewitnesses, Section 302 not added. First call came at 2.22am about woman entangled in the car. But police sprung into action only after call at 4.15am about a naked body,” Maliwal added.
