'Farm Laws Should Be Discussed,' Says BJP's CP Joshi As Party Pulls Kangana Over Farm Laws Remark

Joshi said, "Being a farmer, I can say that what Narendra Modi's government has done for the farmers, no other government has ever done it."

BJP MP CP Joshi has made comments on the farm laws after her party colleague and first-time MP Kangana Ranaut's controversial remarks on the now scrapped laws. Joshi said farm laws should be discussed as this will be in the "interest of the farmers".

"Being a farmer, I can say that what Narendra Modi's government has done for the farmers, no other government has ever done it," the senior BJP leader said. Kangana had appealed to farmers to demand the reintroduction of the three contentious farm laws that led to protests in several areas, including Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

After BJP distanced itself from Kangana's controversial remarks ahead of the Haryana Assembly elections, she apologised for her comments. She said she was "taking her words back" and apologised for hurting feelings. The actress-politician said she was no longer just an artiste, but was a member of a political party. "My opinions should not be my own. They should be the BJP's stand. If I have disappointed anyone with my words and opinion, I apologise. I take my words back."

Talking about initiatives taken by the Modi government for farmers, Joshi said, "This effort started during the time of Atal ji and Narendra Modi ji has taken it forward. For the first time after independence, the BJP government has thought that farmers' crops should also be insured."

He said Kisan Credit Card has been created so that farmers don't have to seek help from anyone. "It was also the Prime Minister's initiative to build roads in villages and farmers were given priority in the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana. These works could not be done during the Congress government. I think it is a matter of discussion whether it is in the interest and interests of this country. I can definitely say that there should be discussion for the benefit of farmers," Joshi added.

Act Against Rahul Gandhi: Joshi

Joshi attacked Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi over his remarks during his recent visit to the US. Joshi said either Rahul should resign or the government should seize his passport. "Rahul goes out of the country and speaks about the country. He sometimes points fingers at the poor, sometimes at the Army and humiliates India," Joshi said.
