BENGALURU: At a time when the #MeToo movement has rocked the country, a senior Kabaddi coach, who was accused of molesting a girl, on Tuesday committed suicide in a Bengaluru hotel room. 59-year-old Rudrappa V Hosamani, a coach with the Sports Authority of India (SAI), was accused by a teenage girl of molesting her at a training centre. "Rudrappa V Hosamani, a senior coach at SAI in Bengaluru, committed suicide by hanging himself in the hotel room in Harihara on Monday.He was accused of molestation," Davanagere Superintendent of Police R Chetan told PTI. Hosmani checked into the hotel on October 13. However, the hotel staff alerted the authorities and police as he did not step out of his room for a long time. When the police broke open the door of his room, they found him hanging. The alleged molestation incident of the teenager took place in the girls' dressing room of the centre on October 9. The victim told her parents about the alleged harassment, who later informed the SAI authorities about it. Subsequently, an internal probe was conducted and Hosamani was placed under suspension, police said, adding a case was filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act against him based on their complaint. Hosamani's father has also lodged a complaint. (With inputs from PTI)
