The families of three youth from Rajouri had written to Sinha on 11th September seeking justice for the slain youth allegedly killed in a fake encounter by the army on 18thy July in Shopian.
According to the families in their letter, they had expressed their dissatisfaction over the slow pace of the investigation and delay in the delivery of justice. Pertinently DNA samples of six members of the three families were taken on 13th August 2020, the results of which are yet to be received or made public Apart from the concerned families, the investigation has come under severe criticism from various quarters especially the defenders of the Human Rights for its snail’s pace who have alleged that the investigation process is slow because authorities are allegedly trying to botch it up to save those who are involved in the killing of the youths. The slain youths which include a minor were actually labourers who had come to Shopian with an aim to earn a livelihood but were allegedly killed in a ruthless and fake encounter by the army.
The LG Manoj Sinha assured that the families will definitely get justices and the law will take its own course and the guilty will be punished.
