New Delhi: Former Congress leader Jitin Prasada, who was earlier in the Congress party, took a swipe at Kapil Sibal after the latter filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha as an Independent supported by the Samajwadi Party. After the resignation of Sibal, leader Jitin Prasada, who came to BJP from Congress last year, has taunted him while retweeting an old tweet. On June 10, 2021, when Jitin Prasada joined BJP, Kapil Sibal had tweeted, "Jitin Prasada joins BJP. The question is will he get 'prasada' from BJP or is he just a 'catch' for UP elections? In such deals if 'ideology' doesn't matter changeover is easy". Jitin Prasada has now taunted Sibal while replying to this tweet. Prasada has written- "How's the 'Prasad' Mr Sibal."
There was talk of Kapil Sibal going to the Rajya Sabha from Jharkhand's JMM quota, but on Wednesday, when he filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav was with him. Later Akhilesh told that Sibal will go to Rajya Sabha on one of the three SP seats.
According to the information, Sibal had represented senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan in the Supreme Court. Azam Khan was released on interim bail by the Supreme Court after two years in jail.
Senior politician Kapil Sibal, who has been with the Congress for nearly 30 years and continuously questioned the leadership of the Gandhi family for the last two years, has quit the Congress on 16 May. After the Congress's Chintan Shivir in Udaipur, a weak bond broke between Sibal and the Gandhi family and he also joined the list of leaders who were once strong pillars of the Congress.
