Jawed Habib Apologises Over Spitting On Woman's Head, FIR Filed Against Hairstylist
While offering apology, Habib said such things are often done with a “humourous” intent during workshops, but said that he was sincerely sorry if someone had felt hurt
New Delhi: Renowned hair stylist Jawed Habib, who landed himself in controversy over a viral video that showed him spitting on a woman's head at the time of hair styling, has issued an apology clarifying his stance on Thursday.
However, there's more trouble brewing for the hair stylist after the FIR has been filed against him on the issue. The Muzaffarnagar Police official Twitter handle shared the details of the complaint in connection to the controvery hairstylist 'spitting on woman's hair' controversy.

Facing criticism on social media and a stern reaction from the National Commission of Women (NCW) over the video, Habib has issued an apology statement through a video message in Instagram. While offering apology, Habib said such things are often done with a “humourous” intent during workshops, but said that he was sincerely sorry if someone had felt hurt.

“I just want to say one thing… these are professional workshops, as in, they are attended by people from within our profession. When these sessions get very long, we have to make them humorous. What can I say? If you are truly hurt, I apologise from the bottom of my heart. Please forgive me, I'm sorry.”
The incident in question had happened during Habib's workshop in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar. In a purported video from the site, the hairstylist could be seen spitting on a woman's head while dressing her hair and is heard saying, “if there is a scarcity of water, use saliva.”
The National Commission for Women has asked the Uttar Pradesh police to probe the veracity of a purported video which shows popular hair stylist Jawed Habib spitting on a woman's head while styling her hair.
"The commission has taken this incident very seriously and not only condemns this in strongest possible words, but also seeks your urgent intervention in the matter to investigate the veracity of this viral video for immediate action as per law/procedure," said the NCW said in a letter to the state police, according to the PTI report.
A noted hairstylist, Habib operates more than 850 salons and around 65 hair academies across 115 cities across India.
