Army Averts Major Terror Incident, Destroys IED Found In J&K's Kupwara

The Army claimed to have recovered and destroyed an improvised explosive device (IED) in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Army on Wednesday claimed to have averted a major terror incident intended to target security forces. The Army claimed to have recovered and destroyed an improvised explosive device (IED) in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. The IED was recovered near Chowkibal on Srinagar-Chowkibal highway in the north Kashmir district.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said that a major terror incident was averted today by recovering an IED.

"IED Recovered near Chowkibal on Srinagar - Chowkibal Highway. Chinar Warriors averted a major terror incident today by recovering & in-situ destroying an IED near Chowkibal on Srinagar - Chowkibal Highway. Indian Army stands by its commitment to keep Kashmir terror-free," the post read.

As per standard operating protocol, the IED was destroyed on the spot in a controlled explosion. Further investigations have been started to arrested the people who planted the IED.

In another incident that took place earlier this month, security forces near Chhattisgarh's Camp Potkapalli recovered 15 kilograms of improvised explosive device (IED), as reported by news agency ANI.

The IED was planted to harm the soldiers of 212 Battalion CRPF and District Force who were out on a joint operation from Camp Potakpalli of the Kistaram police station area, the news agency reported further. The IED was defused on the spot during Area Domination by 212 Battalion CRPF and district forces. Potkapalli under Sukma division is considered to be the "core" territory of the Left Wing Extremists.
