Two back to back earthquakes jolted Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday morning. The first earthquake of magnitude 4.9 on the Richter Scale hit Baramulla at 6:45 am and the second one followed minutes later.


According to National Centre for Seismology, the first tremor hit at 6:45 am on Tuesday with epicentre 5 kilometres deep located in Baramulla. Visuals shared by users on social media showed structures and objects shaking as tremor hit the region.










The same location was struck with a second quake at 6:52 am with a magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter Scale and epicentre located 10 kilometres deep. 


There has been no loss of life or damage to any property, officials said.
