Five Army personnel died in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri. During the encounter, the security forces gunned down two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists including a high-ranking terrorist who was believed to be the mastermind of the Dangri & Kandi attacks. The wreath-laying ceremony of the Martyrs was performed on Friday where Army personnel paid homage to their fellow soldiers who lost their lives on duty.






The soldiers who lost their lives were Capt MV Pranjal of Karnataka's Mangalore area, Capt Shubham Gupta of Uttar Pradesh's Agra, Havaldar Abdul Majid of Ajote in Jammu and Kahsmir's Poonch, Lance Naik Sanjay Bisht of Uttarakhand's Halli Padli area and Paratrooper Sachin Laur of Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh, as reported by news agency PTI.


The mortal remains of Army personnel were brought for the wreath-laying ceremony.






The wreath-laying ceremony of Havaldar Abdul Majid will be held in Poonch.






A gunfight broke out between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri on Wednesday which led to the death of five soldiers and left two others injured. The Security forces were able to neutralise two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists in the process, one of which was a Commander.

The two injured army personnel comprising a major and a jawan were admitted at the Army's Command Hospital in Udhampur, as reported by PTI.


As per officials, in total, 46 deaths have been recorded in terrorism-related incidents in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch and nearby Reasi district since the start of 2023.
