In the ongoing encounter between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri, two terrorists were killed on Thursday, said the Defence Public Relations Office. During the encounter, one terrorist — a Pakistani national — from terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba was gunned down by the security forces, it added, reported ANI.
The individual, identified as Quari, was a highly-ranked terrorist leader of Lashkar-e-Taiba. He has been active in Rajouri-Poonch along with his group for the past year, the Defence PRO said in its statement.
He is also believed to be the mastermind of the Dangri & Kandi attacks. He was sent to revive terrorism in the region. He is an expert in IEDs, operating & hiding from Caves and a trained sniper, it added.
Later, one more LeT terrorist was neutralised in the counter-terrorism operation, reported ANI, adding weapons and ammunition were also recieved from the encounter location.
Four Army soldiers including two officers were killed and two others were injured after a gunfight broke out between the terrorists and the security forces in the region on Wednesday.
The four slained Army personnel include two officer-ranked personnel and two soldiers.
The troops, including Special Forces, were deployed in the area after inputs were received about the movement of a group of terrorists in the area, reported ANI quoting sources as saying. "16 Corps Commander and Rashtriya Rifles' Romeo Force commander are monitoring the operations closely," sources said.
The joint operations were launched in the Kalakote area Gulabgarh Forest, and Rajouri district based on specific intelligence, the report added.
