Major Tragedy Averted As Officials Detect 2 KG IED in J-K's Kishtwar

On Monday evening, a two-kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was discovered hidden by suspected terrorists on a road in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district, officials said, news agency PTI reported. According to them, a joint Army-Police patrol group discovered the IED hidden on the roadside along the Kishtwar-Batote national route.

Traffic on the highway was immediately halted, and a bomb disposal squad was dispatched, which safely defused the hazardous material, according to officials.

According to them, a complaint was filed and a manhunt was initiated to arrest the terrorists responsible for laying the IED.

In a similar incident earlier this month, a major catastrophe was prevented due to the prompt identification of a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Jammu & Kashmir's Rajouri area. Officials said the IED, which was planted inside a tiffin box, was found lying on the roadside by the army’s road opening party at Sangpur village along the Jammu-Poonch National Highway early morning.

Earlier last month, security personnel discovered an improvised explosive device (IED) weighing 2.5 kg hidden by militants on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in the Panjgrain region of Nagrota. Sniffer dogs detected the IED.

Following the repeal of Article 370, the Jammu area has seen an increase in terror attacks, but the situation in Kashmir Valley has improved, according to an official document of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
