Jallianwala Bagh massacre 100th anniversary: ABP News organises road shows, torch relays in Jalandhar to pay tribute to martyrs
In a noble bid to mark the centenary of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and pay tribute to the martyred, ABP News has been organizing torch-lit march across Patiala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar & Amritsar on April 10, 11, 12 & 13 respectively.
Jalandhar: The Jallianwala Bagh massacre which took place in Amritsar over Baisakhi in April 1919 is undoubtedly one of the most brutal incidents in our nation's national movement to gain independence against the rule of the mighty British Empire.
As the nation commemorates the 100th anniversary of the massacre of hundreds of innocent Indians by British forces at the Jallianwala Bagh, British High Commissioner Sir Dominic Asquith on Saturday expressed deep regret and sorrow but remained non-committal on any apology coming from the British government on the brutal killings.
In a noble bid to mark the centenary of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and pay tribute to the martyred, ABP News has been organizing torch-lit march across Patiala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar & Amritsar on April 10, 11, 12 & 13 respectively.
ABP News launched its campaign with a cause from the historical city of Patiala on Wednesday to make the citizens cognizant of the sacrifices made by our brave-hearts to gain the much cherished independence. On Day 1 of the campaign, the activities undertaken by the ABP team comprised of road shows, torch relay, street plays, oath Ceremonies & pledges taken from crowds on a wall.
There was an in-depth coverage of the campaign all across Patiala city in key locations like BM Khalsa School, Patiala Bus Stand, Mall Road Market & Omaxe Mall Patiala.
Day three of the ABP News campaign was held on April 12 around the city of Jalandhar in Punjab with a healthy participation shown by the public.
Road Shows, torch Relay, street Plays, oath ceremonies & pledges from crowd were taken on a wall.
The areas where different activities were held as part of paying tribute to the martyrs were the city bus stand, Shastri Nagar, Nakodar Chowk & Model Town.
