IUML Leader Terms Marriage Of Kerala CM's Daughter As 'Prostitution', Later Apologises
Meanwhile, DYFI state secretary VK Sanoj slammed the IUML and condemned the speech as "uncivilised".
Chennai: A leader of the Indian Union Muslim League in a distasteful personal attack called the wedding of Kerala Chief Minister's daughter "illegitimate" and "prostitution". The Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan's daughter Veena Vijayan married last year.
During a massive rally in Kozhikode organised by IUML to condemn the state's stand on Waqf board appointments, the party-state secretary Abdurahiman asked if that was a marriage and called it illegitimate and prostitution.
He also told the IUML members to protest against the wedding that took place last year. He then urged IUML members to follow the path laid by CH Muhammed Koya on the matter.
The couple, Veena and Riyas, married last year in June and the marriage took place while Riyas was the national president of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI). However, Riyas won Beypore Assembly seat in May 2021 and became an MLA from Kozhikode. Later, he was then inducted into the cabinet of Pinaryi Vijayan.

Further, IUML leader also attacked DYFI on the views over same-sex marriages and said that the CPI(M) encourages sexual anarchy. The IUML leader also said slogans with a casteist tone against the CM.
However, the statement received widespread criticism on social media and the people of Kerala demanded the leader to apologse for the speech.
After much pressure, Kallayi on Friday apologised for his speech and said that he was only talking about the religious outlook on his personal life and did not mean to hurt the beliefs of any individual.
