'It's A Sin': BJP Leader Slams Rahul Gandhi For 'Concealing' Details Of 'Sexual Assault Victims'

BJP said that it was a 'sin' for a person of Rahul Gandhi's status to not inform the police about a crime like sexual harassment.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has now reacted to the recent development of a team of Delhi police serving notice to Rahul Gandhi at his house seeking details of victims of sexual harassment he talked about during Bharat Jodo Yatra. The saffron party said that it was a 'sin' for a person of his status to not inform the police about such a crime.

BJP National General Secretary Dushyant Kumar Gautam said that having information about the victims of sexual harassment for so long, and not informing police about the same was a big sin for a person of his stature. He said that perhaps Gandhi has no faith in the country's judiciary and institutions adding that Rahul Gandhi should have come forth to send these perpetrators behind bars.

"He either has no faith in the Indian judicial system or he does not believe in the safety of women in the country," he added.

Gautam further said that apart from this, Gandhi must also furnish details of terrorists he claimed to have talked to during his Bharat Jodo Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir. "He should be giving information about these anti-social elements to the judiciary but he does not have faith in all these," he added.

The BJP leader alleged that Rahul Gandho does not want safety for women and he does not want terrorists inside jails because his people have had relations with them.

"Terrorists used to have biryani at PM's residence when Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister and have always been with anti-social elements. Therefore, they should help police in the ongoing process to bring the criminals to justice," Gautam said.

Delhi Police Special CP(L&O) Sagar Preet Hooda has said that the police officials met Rahul Gandhi regarding details of victims of 'sexual harassment' and the leader has sought time to compile the details. Hooda said that the Congress MP asked for some time saying that the yatra was very long and he met many people.

According to ANI, Hooda said, "We held a meeting with Rahul Gandhi. He said he needs some time and will give us the information which we've asked for. Today we've served a notice which has been accepted by his office and if questioning needs to be done then we will do it."

"Rahul Gandhi said it was a long yatra and he met many people and needs time to compile it. He has assured us that he will give the information soon and we will begin our proceedings as soon as we receive the information," the officer further said.

The police earlier in the day reached Rahul Gandhi's residence in Delhi days after sending him a notice to furnish details of women who shared their ordeal of 'sexual harassment' with him during his Bharat Jodo Yatra in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.
