I-T Dept Raids Premises Of DMK Chief MK Stalin's Son-In-Law Sabareesan Ahead Of Tamil Nadu Voting On April 6

The Income Tax Department on Friday launched a search at the home of Sabareesan, the son-in-law of DMK chief MK Stalin.

Income Tax raids at premises of Sabareesan, son in law of DMK leader M K Stalin. Four places are being searched now according to officials.

Sleuths were seen raiding Sabareesan's home in Chennai's Neelangarai on Friday morning.

Several other places connected to him are also being searched, news agency ANI reported.

Sabareesan is the husband of MK Stalin's daughter Sendhamarai.

Premises Belongs to Sabareesan, Karthik Mohan under IT scanner.

Sabareesan along with his friends ran a digital firm called OMG which overlooked DMK IT wing activities. Sabareesan is the key for DMK online activities including their tie-up with Prashant Kishor's I-PAC.

According to recent report DMK Karur Candidate & Former Minister Senthil Balaji is also being raided by IT.

This is the second such raid on those associated with the DMK ahead of the April 6 Tamil Nadu Assembly election. Last month, DMK candidate from EV Velu's premises were searched in Tiruvannamalai and Chennai.

Along with Arunai Engineering College in Tiruvannamalai, which Velu founded in 1993, a guest house where Stalin stayed for some time, was also raided.

The Opposition party dubbed these raids 'politically-motivated'.

The I-T raids come days before Tamil Nadu is set to vote on April 6 for the Assembly elections.

“Conducting searches in the room where the DMK chief stayed in the guest house is inappropriate and undemocratic. Nothing has been seized,” said DMK leader Durai Murugan.

The DMK chief said people would "give a clear verdict on April 6 for this miscalculation".

MK Stalin responds To I-T Raids

"I am MK Stalin. This Stalin has faced Emergency and MISA. I won't be scared because of these IT Raids. PM Modi should know that we aren't AIADMK leaders," said Stalin on the searches at his daughter's home, referring to a controversial law used by the then Congress government during the Emergency to crack down on politicians.

Speaking at a rally in Perambalur, he said: "Today morning I came to Trichy from Chennai. I got news of a raid going on at my daughter's house in Chennai. The (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi government is saving the AIADMK government now...I want to tell Modi that this is DMK, don't forget that, I'm the son of Kalaignar (late DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi). I will not be scared like this,"

A large number of DMK leaders and supporters gathered at the Neelangarai home as a show of support.
