WATCH: Army Personnel In Kerala Perform Underwater Asanas To Mark International Yoga Day

The soldiers of Pangode Military Station engaged in a captivating display of physical and mental agility as they performed asanas underwater.

Indian Army personnel from various units, alongside local civilians, showcased their extraordinary abilities by participating in an underwater yoga session at Pangode Military Station in Kerala.

As part of International Yoga Day celebrations, the soldiers engaged in a captivating display of physical and mental agility as they performed asanas underwater.

"The underwater yoga was performed by the well-trained Amphibious Warriors of Pangode Military Station under the guidance of expert yoga instructor and free diver Jyothi Singh from Bond Water Sports Pvt Ltd," a defence statement said.

The video shows Indian Army personnel standing inside a pool, dressed in colours of the Indian flag. Each personnel is seen wearing swimming glasses and a cap. 

The soldiers then submerge themselves inside the pool completely and perform various yoga asanas inside water. A person donning an oxygen cylinder gear kept a check on their moments.

The jawans stay submerged for about 20-25 seconds before slowly surfacing above.

The Pangode Military Station, through this event, underscored the importance of physical and mental well-being as essential pillars of a strong and capable armed forces, the statement said.

"The event aimed to promote holistic well-being, strengthen the mind-body connection, and demonstrate the military's commitment to embracing diverse approaches to physical fitness," the statement further said.

Meanwhile, Indian Navy ships visited ports of friendly foreign countries, forming an 'Ocean Ring of Yoga', as part of Yoga Day celebrations.

In a statement, the Navy said yoga day events and activities were conducted on naval ships, including Kiltan, Chennai, Shivalik, Sunayna, Trishul, Tarkash, Vagir, Sumitra and Brahmaputra -- all of which are deployed in the Indian Ocean Region.

"Nearly 3,500 naval personnel on board 19 Indian Navy ships have travelled more than 35,000 kilometres as ambassadors of yoga in both national and international waters," the Indian Navy said.
