Inflation: Know About The Surge In Fuel Prices From May To June

In Delhi, the price of petrol was Rs 90.40/litre on 1st May and now it has gone up to Rs 98.81/litre. Know by how much the prices of petrol & diesel increased within the span of two months from May.

New Delhi::  During the deadly second wave of the Covid-19 that affected the lives of millions in the country, the prices of petrol and diesel have increased by almost 10% in the last two months. Out of the last 61 days, oil prices have increased on 32 days between May and June. Know by how much the prices of petrol and diesel have increased within the span of two months from May till now.

The prices hiked for petrol and diesel?

Starting from the price of Rs 90.40 per litre on May 1, the price of petrol in Delhi has gone up to Rs 98.81 per litre, which is an increase of Rs 8.41 per litre in the last 60 days. Similarly, the price of diesel in the capital also increased by Rs 8.45 per litre in the last two months to Rs 89.18 per litre.

Crude oil price cheaper than 2018 but still expensive

A closer look at retail fuel prices in India reveals that the high level of taxes are keeping the fuel rate high even at a time when global oil prices are stable. Globally, the price of crude oil is now around $75 per barrel. In October 2018, it was more than $80 per barrel, but petrol prices were around Rs 80 per litre across the country.

Record High Fuel Prices in Rajasthan's Sriganganagar

Fuel prices are already making new records every day. Petrol is most expensive in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar, where it is now selling at Rs 109.67 per litre. Even the diesel price in the city is Rs 102.12 per litre.

1 litre petrol price in Mumbai Rs 104.90

While the price of petrol in Mumbai city crossed Rs 100 for the first time on May 29, the price of petrol reached a new high of Rs 104.90 per litre on Tuesday and maintained the same figure on Wednesday as well. Diesel prices in the city also increased to Rs 96.72 per litre, the highest among Indian metropolitan cities.
