IndiGo Reports 2 Incidents Of Mid-Air Glitch On Same Day, Flights Landed Safely
The airlines also released a statement on the Madurai-Mumbai flight instance stating that it had technical issues prior to landing in Mumbai.
IndiGo Airlines on Tuesday reported two separate incidents of mid-air glitch, although both the aircraft landed safely. The first instance engine glitch happened on an IndiGo Madurai to Mumbai flight while the second instance happened on a flight from Kolkata to Bengaluru, according to an ANI report. “Engine 2 Stall occurred and Engine2 oil chip detected warning came. Engine2 was shut down as per the checklist and the aircraft landed safely,” Director General of Civil Aviation said in a statement.
The airlines also released a statement on the Madurai-Mumbai flight instance stating that it had technical issues prior to landing in Mumbai.
“The pilot prioritised the landing in Mumbai. The aircraft is held at Mumbai and will be back in operations after necessary maintenance. We regret the inconvenience caused to the passengers,” Indigo said.
As per the report, the officials said that both these IndiGo aircraft were running on Pratt and Whitney engines.
On Tuesday last week, a 62-year-old male passenger onboard Mumbai-Ranchi IndiGo flight died after he vomited blood on the plane and was later brought dead to a hospital in Maharashtra.

As per a statement from KIMS Kingsway Hospitals, the passenger was suffering from chronic kidney disease (CKD) and tuberculosis, reported ANI. The plane was diverted to Nagpur and made an emergency landing when his health deteriorated.
In a statement issued by the airline, it stated that IndiGo flight 6E 5093, operating from Mumbai to Ranchi was diverted to Nagpur due to a medical emergency on board.
On August 17, an IndiGo pilot collapsed at the boarding gate of Nagpur airport moments before take off. He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead, as per a statement by the airline.
The spokesperson of the hospital, where he was shifted, told news agency PTI that their medical team administered CPR, though with no response.
According to his roster, he had operated on several sectors before coming on duty and had 27 hours of rest before Thursday, the airline said.
