India Reports 0.3% Covid-19 Deaths Per Lakh Population, Lowest In World: Govt
India's death rate among confirmed cases was 3.30 per cent on 15th April, which has now come down to 2.87 per cent as on May 26, said Health Ministry.
New Delhi: The Ministry of Health has said that despite entering in the 10 worst-hit COVID-19 countries, it is to be marked that India’s recovery rate has improved to 41.61 per cent while the fatality rate remained the lowest in the world at 2.87 per cent now.
In a Live conference on Tuesday afternoon Health Ministry Joint Secretary, Lav Aggarwal hailed the Centre's decision of timely enforcing lockdown which has resulted in lowest fatality rate in the world. He said that the global average for case fatality is presently around 6.45%, which is way more than what India records at present.
"India has recorded the lowest fatality rate in the world. For India, the figure is as low as 2.87% now. India reported 0.3 per cent deaths per lakh population, one of the lowest among countries which have reported high number. The main reason for lowest fatility rate is lockdown in India and how India prepared for it," JS Aggrawal said. The official went on to tell the media that compared to 69.9 COVID-19 cases per lakh population for the world as a whole, 10.7 cases per lakh population have been reported in India. He had begun the press conference with briefing on India's current COVID situation and the recovery rate across the country. Aggrawal said, "The recovery is continuously improving and has increased up to 46.61 per cent at present. A total of 60,490 patients have recovered so far from the deadly coronavirus."We are testing about 1.1 lakh samples in a day, at 612 labs

India registered 6,535 new cases in the last 24 hours, taking the country’s Corona case tally to 1,45,380 on Tuesday. Of these, there are more than 80,000 active cases present in the country. While, 60490 patients have recovered and been discharged, 4167 people lost their lives to the contagious disease.India's Recovery rate is steadily improving from 7.1% in march to 41.6% today.
