New Delhi: Indian troops deployed in Sudan as part of a UN Peacekeeping mission have won a 'tug-of-war' contest against their Chinese counterparts, according to Army officials. The event, captured in a viral video, showcased the exceptional camaraderie and competitive spirit among soldiers.

In a display of physical prowess and teamwork, Indian troops showcased their strength and determination, achieving triumph over the Chinese contingent in a friendly yet spirited competition, news agency ANI reported. After the win, the Indian side is seen erupting in cheers.

The video, which ANI said has been authenticated by Indian Army officers, has garnered widespread attention.

The United Nations Mission in the Sudan (UNMIS) was established by the UN Security Council under Resolution 1590 on March 24, 2005, following the signing of a Comprehensive Peace Agreement between the Sudanese government and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement on January 9, 2005.

The UNMIS is tasked with supporting the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, providing humanitarian assistance, protecting and promoting human rights, and supporting the African Union Mission in Sudan.

On 9 July 2011, South Sudan became the newest country in the world. The birth of the Republic of South Sudan was the culmination of the six-year peace process.

The Mission's mandate encompasses four key areas: protecting civilians; facilitating conditions for humanitarian assistance delivery; supporting the implementation of the Revitalized Agreement and the peace process; and monitoring, investigating, and reporting on violations of international law.
