Indian Army Helps Woman In Critical Condition Deliver Child At J&K's Sadhna Pass

The Indian Army assisted a woman during childbirth in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district.

A woman in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district gave birth to a baby girl with the assistance of an Indian Army medical staff while being transported to a hospital. Col Emron Musavi while talking to the news agency PTI said that Harmida Begam who is a resident of Jadda village in the Tangdhar area was being transported to the Kupwara district Headquarters after being referred to a medical facility due to her critical condition. The patient's movement was expedited at Sadhna Pass which is manned by the Army. Just after a few minutes, the ambulance returned to the Pass as she has gone into labour.

Col Musavi said that the medical staff accompanying Harmida faced difficulties due to the complications that arose during the delivery. He said that the Army medical staff promptly responded to the crisis and helped in the emergency delivery while ensuring the safety of both, the mother as well as the newborn.

The newborn's parents named the baby girl 'Sadhna' in order to acknowledge the location and honour the efforts of the Indian Army, reported PTI. The Sadhna pass was named last year after an actress who had once shot a movie there.

In early 2021, a woman in the same district as Harmida gave birth to her newborn in an Army ambulance while she was on her way to a hospital. Both the woman along with her newborn were then taken to a hospital where they were admitted for further medical care, reported ABP Ananda.
