India Witnesses Decline In Coronavirus Cases With 34,973 Fresh Infections Reported Along With 260 Fatalities

The Health Ministry on Thursday pointed out that 68.59 per cent of total Coronavirus cases in the last week were recorded in Kerala.

New Delhi: India has reported 34,973 fresh COVID-19 cases, 37,681 recoveries, and 260 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per Union Health Ministry data on Friday.

India's active caseload stands at 3,90,646, active cases account for 1.18 per cent of total cases. The recovery rate currently at 97.49 per cent, weekly positivity rate (2.31 per cent) has been less than 3 per cent for the last 77 days.

Meanwhile, the daily positivity rate (1.96 per cent) has been less than 3 per cent for the last 11 days. 53.86 cr total tests have been conducted so far.

Total vaccination: 72,37,84,586

 72.37 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive, the health ministry release informed.

Coronavirus In States

The Health Ministry on Thursday pointed out that 68.59 per cent of total cases in the last week were recorded in Kerala.

Kerala on Thursday reported 26,200 fresh coronavirus cases and 125 deaths which pushed the total infections in the state to 43,09,694 and the fatalities till now to 22,126, the state government said.

The Test Positivity Rate (TPR) was recorded at 16.69 per cent after testing 1,56,957 samples in the last 24 hours and with this, 3.29 crore samples have been tested till now, a state government release informed.

The bulletin also stated that since Wednesday, 29,209 people recovered from the infection taking the total number to 40,50,665 and the number of active cases to 2,36,345.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra reported 4,219 new coronavirus infections and 55 fatalities on Thursday. It took the tally of infections in the state to 64,87,025 and the death toll to 1,38,017, the state health department informed.

The total number of cases was reduced by 15,066 after removal of duplication, while the number of discharged persons too was slashed by 15,793 after reconciliation of figures, an official release stated.

With 2,538 patients being discharged from hospitals during the day, the total of recoveries rose to 62,95,236.

Maharashtra's case recovery rate stands at 97.04 per cent while the fatality rate is 2.12 per cent.

On the other hand, No death related to COVID-19 was recorded in Delhi on Thursday, while 35 fresh cases were reported with a positivity rate of 0.05 per cent, according to data shared by the city health department.

Only one fatality due to COVID has been reported this month, on September 7, according to official figures.

The data said no death was recorded on July 18, July 24, July 29, August 2, August 4, August 8, August 11-13, August 16, August 20, August 21-24 and August 26-29.

The number of active cases slightly increased to 415 on Thursday from 414 a day before, as per the bulletin.
