Pakistan was coming in the match after an all-around performance against Hong Kong, whereas India struggled in its tournament opener against the associate nation on Tuesday before sealing an unimpressive win. There were reports that Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, who arrived in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday as a part of his first official overseas trip, may reach Dubai to watch his country's group league encounter against India but he didn't turn up. The two countries were competing for the first time in the United Arab Emirates since 2006.
