India Registers 44,658 New Covid Cases As Kerala Continues To Report Over 30K Infections In Last 24 Hrs

Corona Update: India has registered over 40k Coronavirus cases for the second consecutive day. The country has reported 44,658 new cases in the last 24 hours. The active cases account for 1.06% of total cases. India's active caseload stands at 3,44,899.

India witnessed 496 deaths in the last 24 hrs, as per Health Ministry.

Kerala reports 30k cases for 2nd consecutive day
Kerala has reported over 30,000 new Covid cases for the second day in a row. In the last 24 hours, the state recorded 30,007 cases, 18,997 recoveries, and 162 deaths. With this, the number of active cases has gone up to 1,81,209 while Test Positivity Rate (TPR) stands at18.03%, reports PTI.
On Wednesday, Kerala saw a sudden spike in fresh cases with 31,445 people testing positive and 215 deaths. The TPR jumped to 19.03% from 18.04% on Tuesday.
The last time the state crossed the 30,000 mark was on May 20 when it logged 30,491 Covid cases.
Maharashtra witnesses slight surge in Covid cases
Maharashtra reported 5,108 new Covid-19 cases, slightly more than Wednesday's, and 159 deaths on Thursday. The fresh surge took the state's infection tally to 64,42,788 and the death toll to 1,36,730.
Mumbai, meanwhile, with 397 new Covid-19 cases, registered its highest daily count in nearly a month.
