Women leaders from the INDIA alliance will be participating in the DMK-led women’s rights conference scheduled to be held on October 14, DMK MP Kanimozhi said on Monday, news agency ANI reported. On October 14, the DMK will hold a women's rights conference, demanding the government to promptly implement the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.'

Speaking with media, DMK MP Kanimozhi stated: "We will be talking about the women's reservation bill and what it translates into at this conference. Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Supriya Sule, Mehbooba Mufti and also leaders from other parties like AAP and TMC will also be there."

On Women's quota bill, she said: "The 33% reservation for women brought by the BJP government is just an eye-wash. As far as the reservation issue is concerned, it seems that it cannot be implemented even if it takes another 25 years until the census and constituency redefining."

According to an official statement from Thoothukudi MP Kanimozhi, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi, and INDIA alliance women leaders including Mehbooba Mufti and Supriya Sule will attend the meeting, which will be held at the YMCA grounds in Nandanam.

The gathering will be presided over by CM M K Stalin to commemorate the birth centenary of DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi.

Stalin is carrying on Karunanidhi's measures for women's development by launching many programmes including as free bus travel permits and installing women as temple priests, according to Kanimozhi.
