Punjab Police on Monday stated that three sisters were discovered dead inside a trunk in their home in Kanpur village, Jalandhar district, news agency PTI reported. The three girls were reported missing to Maqsudan Police Station by their parents on Sunday night when they did not come home from work, according to an officer. According to investigators, the migrant laborer's family consisted of five children. Kanchan, 4, Shakti, 7, and Amrita, 9, were recognised as the sisters.


According to the officer, all three bodies were submitted for autopsies to determine the cause of death.


According to police, the incident began when the kids' father was moving household belongings on Monday and discovered the trunk was heavier than normal.


Speaking with ANI, Kartarpur DSP Balbir Singh said: "Three sisters found dead in the trunk of the house. We got the information from Kanpur village about the missing of three sisters around 11 at night... The family is from Bihar and they are migrant labourers... Yesterday their parents went to work when they returned home their three children were missing. Police went to the spot and investigated the whole night. Today in the morning our Sub Inspector went on the spot again. He found the bodies in the trunk... Further investigation underway."






When he opened the trunk, he discovered his three kids inside, according to authorities.


The father of the daughters had just received an ultimatum from his landlord to quit the residence due to his drinking problem, according to authorities.


An investigation into the matter has been initiated.
