New Delhi: Amid all the political hustle over the construction of Ram Temple at the controversial site of Ayodhya, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy further fanned the flames on Saturday, by saying that nothing can stop construction of Ram Temple, if all the Hindus get united. Deputy CM of Uttar Pradesh Keshav Prasad Maurya who had earlier said that Supreme Court’s decision would be the final in Ram temple construction issue, has now said that until and unless the temple is constructed, he would not sit at peace.
Swamy was addressing a conference at Banaras Hindu University’s Swatantrata Bhawan. The conference was organised in the memory of former Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Ashok Singhal.
Swamy said while addressing the conference that if Hindus unite then no one could stop the construction of a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya and asserted that efforts would be made to declare "Ram Setu" as a national heritage.
Swamy said it was the fundamental right of Hindus to offer prayers at the birthplace of Ram and added that even the Supreme Court would agree on the issue of their faith.
He said Muslims can offer prayers at any other place but Hindus sentiments were associated with the place where Lord Ram was born and so the temple must be built there.
He said if the Hindus unite then no one could stop the construction of a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad president Champat Rai appealed to the students to unite for building the temple. He said the Ram temple was matter of prestige for Hindus.
Swamy’s conference took place amid aggressive clashes between leftist groups who opposed his presence in the university and ABVP members who were in support of Swamy.
