RANCHI: RJD party MLA Rekha Devi on Saturday informed that the former Bihar chief minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's health has deteriorated and he can neither sit nor stand on his own. She informed media after meeting Lalu in Ranchi's Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and demanded better treatment for the RJD chief. "Laluji's health has deteriorated. He can neither sit down nor stand up. His blood sugar level has also increased. We demand that he should be taken to a place where he gets better treatment," the RJD MLA told reporters.

ABP News contacted Doctor Umesh Prasad who is attending the former Bihar CM at RIMS and he confirmed that Lalu is facing difficulty in sitting or standing. Lalu Prasad, who suffers from diseases such as sugar, BP and heart problems, has increased a Creatine level which is affecting his kidneys. The doctor also said his kidney function has decreased compared to earlier. For now, the team of RIMS doctors will be closely monitoring his for the next two days and if no improvement is seen then the doctor's team will decide on sending Lalu Yadav to another good institution for treatment.

Earlier, director of the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) R K Shrivastava had said that the incarcerated RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav was suffering from depression. He was also shifted to the paying ward of the hospital after RIMS accepted his prayer that cited poor hygiene, mosquito menace and bark of dogs as perilous to his health.

Lalu Yadav, who was convicted in the fodder scam, is currently admitted to the RIMS under the police custody, owing to heart-related problems. After spending a few months out of jail, the RJD supremo surrendered before a CBI court in Ranchi on August 30, upon the expiry of the provisional bail granted to him by the Jharkhand High Court for medical treatment.
