‘Telling White Lies’: AAP MLAs Hit Out At Anurag Thakur For Alleging Delhi Govt Inaction In IAS Couple Row
AAP MLA Naresh Balyan and Sharad Chauhan targeted Sports Minister Anurag Thakur for his claim about the Delhi government's inaction against the IAS couple.
New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party MLA Naresh Balyan on Saturday hit out at Union Minister Anurag Thakur for his claim on the Delhi government's inaction against IAS officers Sanjiv Khirwar and Rinku Dugga over their alleged misuse of a sports stadium. Naresh accused the sports minister of “shamelessly” telling white lies in front of everyone as he knew that the Delhi government did not have the power to take any action against an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer.
The Uttam Nagar MLA took to Twitter to deliver a sharp response. “Anurag Thakur is mentally malnourished. He is there in politics because of his father, otherwise, he is not worthy of even being a councillor. He is a shameless person,” Balyan tweeted in Hindi.
“It is known to him that the Delhi government does not have the power to take any action against an IAS officer, yet he is shamelessly telling white lies in front of everyone,” he added.
AAP MLA from Narela, Sharad Chauhan asked Balyan to "enhance the minister's knowledge".
While addressing a naming ceremony of a sports complex in Savitribai Phule Pune University in Pune, Anurag Thakur said that the Delhi government failed to act against the IAS couple over their alleged misuse of Thyagraj sports stadium in the national capital, but the Ministry of Home Affairs transferred them to give a strong message that such facilities are meant for sportspersons.
"In Delhi, an IAS officer and his wife took their dog to a stadium, asking players to stand outside. The Delhi government did nothing. Centre intervened and transferred them to distant places. It's these athletes who win medals for the country. No one should interfere with it": Union Minister Anurag Thakur said, as quoted by news agency ANI.
The Union Home Ministry had on Thursday shunted IAS couple Sanjeev Khirwar and Anu Dugga to Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh, respectively, following media reports about the misuse of facilities at Thyagraj Stadium by them. Khirwar was then posted as Principal Secretary (Revenue) in Delhi.
