Heavy Rains Batter Hyderabad: Massive Water-Logging On Streets; 9 Dead As Wall Collapses

Hyderabad Rains: Heavy rains continued to lash parts of Hyderabad on second consecutive day with flooding in several parts, disrupting road and air traffic, and paralyzing the normal life.
As many as nine people have died following the incessant downpour when a boundary wall collapsed in Mohammedia Hills in Bandlaguda due to the rains.
Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi tweeted on Wednesday, ‘Nine persons died when a boundary wall collapsed in Mohammedia Hills in Bandlaguda due to the heavy rains here in the past two days.’
In the state overall 11 people have died in rain-related incidents, as heavy showers accompanied by lightning continued in Hyderabad and its outskirts since late Monday night, inundating low-lying areas.
"Hyderabad Rains, I was at a spot inspection in Mohammedia Hills, Bandlaguda where a private boundary wall fell resulting in death of 9 people & injuring 2. On my way from there, I gave a lift to stranded bus passengers in Shamshabad, now I'm on my way to Talabkatta & Yesrab Nagar, he tweeted. Some boulders fell on the compound walls of two houses, killing eight people on the spot and injuring four persons. The injured are being treated, a police official said. In a separate incident, a 40-year-old woman and her 15-year-old daughter died after the roof of their old house collapsed in Ibrahimpatnam area here on Tuesday due to heavy rains, police said. Watch visuals: A house in Dhoolpet area in Hyderabad was also damaged after a huge rock fell on it. The family living in the house had a narrow escape. Normal life was thrown out of gear at various places in Telangana on Tuesday as heavy rains lashed the state, leading to water-logging in different localities in Hyderabad and other parts of the state. Meanwhile, heavy rains in several districts led to overflow of lakes, tanks, streams and other water bodies, cutting off road links to dozens of villages. CM orders district administrations to be on alert: Chief Minister has ordered all district administration to be on alert due to heavy rainfall in the state. In Hyderabad, many areas have 20 cm of rain in the last 24 hrs.
