Himachal Pradesh: Fire breaks out in a hotel in Shimla, no casualties reported

New Delhi: The British era historic building of hotel Grand Heritage was gutted in fire that broke out past midnight in Shimla today. The blaze was eventually doused and no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. Earlier five tenders were on the spot and later two more were deputed, the deputy commissioner of Shimla district administration said. The official further said that priority was to control the fire, which was eventually doused after three hours of efforts by the firefighters with the help of police army and others.
The incident was reported nearly 1 am and teams and fire tenders were deputed immediately, the official said. He futher told there was some restoration work which is underway, while the reason for the fire is yet to be known. However, no one was injured in the fire, he added, asserting that action will be taken. The commissioner of Shimla Municipal Corporation said that it was a historic and heritage building and water supply was sufficient and was used to control the fire.Himachal Pradesh: Fire breaks out in a hotel in Shimla, 5 fire tenders are present at the spot. This building was built in 1829 in Shimla and it used to be the residence of Governor General Lord William Bentinck during British Empire and now is used as the Guest house of Government of India.#UPDATE: The fire has been doused.
