Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Tuesday said that women in poll-bound Himachal Pradesh would get 33% reservation in government jobs and Rs 51,000 would be given to poor women during their marriage if Bharatiya Janata Party comes to power. While addressing a public rally in Himachal Pradesh’s Bilaspur, Thakur also said cycles will be given to school-going students and college-going students will get a scooty.

This comes just days ahead of the Assembly elections in the state. During the rally, Thakur also said that if BJP is voted into power, poor women will get three free gas cylinders in a year. “33% reservation for women in govt jobs, cycle for school-going students and scooty for college-going students, Rs 51,000 to poor women during their marriage, 3 free gas cylinders in a year for poor women, if BJP comes to power in HP,” Anurag Thakur said.

Anurag Thakur attacked the Congress party during the rally saying that they have only stopped developments whereas BJP has brought developments in the state. “Compare Congress's 60 years of rule to our 5 years of rule, and you'll see that our 5 years of rule will have more weightage. They've only stopped developments whereas we've brought developments in the state,” Thakur said during the rally.

Earlier, 26 Congress party leaders on Monday, quit and joined the ruling BJP including Dharampal Thakur Khand - former General Secretary of the Pradesh Congress Committee in Himachal. This comes as a big jolt to the Congress party ahead of the Assembly elections in the state with four days to go for voting.

The leaders joined BJP in the presence of Chief Minister Jairam Thakur and BJP's Sudhan Singh, in charge of BJP state elections. BJP candidate from Shimla, Sanjay Sood was also present on occasion. Himachal will go to polls on November 12, and the counting of votes will take place on December 8.
