High Drama Unfolds In Kerala Assembly As Opposition MLAs Protest Against Governor Arif Mohammed Khan
The protesting MLAs raised slogans of 'recall Governor" as Khan arrived in the house for the budget session, accompanied by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
New Delhi: A high-voltage drama unfolded in Kerala assembly on Wednesday, as Congress-led Opposition MLAs blocked Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan's path as he arrived in the house and raised slogans against him.
The United Democratic Front (UDF) MLAs protested against the Citizenship Amendment Act, and the National Register of Citizens (NRC), in the state assembly. They raised slogans of 'recall Governor" as Khan arrived in the house for the budget session, accompanied by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
hough the CM and the Speaker repeatedly tried to appease the agitating opposition members, they didn't budge and continued to raise slogans against Khan and his stand in support of CAA.
Holding placards, the MLAs blocked Khan’s path to the podium, when the assembly marshals had to intervene. State assembly marshals escorted Khan to his chair while the MLAs continued to raise slogans of "recall Governor".

After nearly 10 minutes of protest, watch and ward personnel removed the opposition members using force and cleared the governor's way to the dais.
As Khan began his address the UDF MLAs staged a walk-out from the assembly. After boycotting the policy address, they staged a sit in protest at the gate of the Assembly.
