Hathras Case: The Supreme Court on Monday said that the Allahabad High Court will monitor the CBI probe into Hathras alleged gang-rape case. A 3-judge bench headed by CJI SA Bobde said so far as transfer of Hathras case to Delhi is concerned, it is appropriate for CBI to conclude probe and it will be decided later.

Supreme Court said all aspects of Hathras Case, including security to the victim’s family and witnesses etc will be looked by Allahabad High Court. Court further said that CBI will file its status reports in Allahabad High Court.

In the previous hearing on October 15, the Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police welcomed the Supreme Court to depute any agency for protecting the Hathras victim's family, but said it should not be a reflection on the fairness of the state police.

Senior advocate Harish Salve, appearing for the DGP, had submitted before the bench that this court may depute any agency for protection of the family but it shouldn't be a reflection on the state police's fairness.  Salve insisted this should not be construed in any way that may put the Uttar Pradesh Police in bad light. After a detailed hearing on the matter, the top court had reserved its order.
