Haryana Polls: ‘Cong Will Form Govt At Any Cost,’ Says Selja; Sonia Directs Hooda To Woo JJP
Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi has spoken to senior Congress leader and former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda to discuss all possibilities of forming government.
New Delhi: Political hustle has already started in Haryana, as counting of votes for the assembly elections nears its final phase, with the Congress party claiming to form government at any cost. Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi has spoken to senior Congress leader and former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda to discuss all possibilities of forming government.
Haryana state Congress president Kumari Selja also stated that the party will form government in Haryana “at any cost”, leading to speculations that the party may offer the post of CM to Chautala, repeating what it did in Karnataka after elections in 2018.
As per the trends, the Jannayak Janta Party will be in the role of kingmaker, with both Congress and BJP failing to reach a majority mark.
As per sources, the Congress party is in touch with the JJP and other independent candidates.
Bhupinder Singh Hooda who is in Rohtak has reportedly been directed to hold parleys with JJP leadership and come up with a final arrangement.
Though the main contest was between the BJP and Congress on several seats in the state, JJP which broke away from the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), has emerged as a key stakeholder. Other parties in the running are the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), AAP and Swaraj India party.
