New Delhi: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Wednesday has said that his party workers will continue playing Hanuman Chalisa in front of mosques until all loudspeakers are removed from the mosques.

Raj Thackeray said that all illegal loudspeakers should be removed from mosques. "We will continue our agitation till they are removed," he said. Apart from this, he said that we will continue to play Hanuman Chalisa outside mosques during Azan till all illegal loudspeakers are removed.

"There are 1,140 mosques in Mumbai of which 135 mosques used loudspeakers in the morning (Wednesday) for Azaan before 5 am or 6am. You (state government) are detaining our workers, sending them notices, what action will you be taking against the erring mosques? Why are only we being targeted and not those who are breaking the law by using loudspeakers?" said Thackeray while addressing the media as reported by news agency PTI.

Meanwhile, intensifying his attack on the ruling Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, Raj Thackeray on Wednesday shared an old video of the late Bal Thackeray on Twitter, in which the Shiv Sena founder is seen saying that the day his party comes to power, he will offer prayers on the streets.

Doing so will be stopped and loudspeakers will be removed from the mosque. MNS chief on Tuesday called upon people to recite Hanuman Chalisa to protest against the use of loudspeakers for 'azaan'.

"We (Shiv Sena) will not stop until we are successful in preventing the people from offering namaz on roads when we will form the government in Maharashtra," said Bal Thackeray.

In a 36-second video shared by the MNS chief on Twitter on Wednesday, Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray is seen wearing a saffron shawl and the party's election symbol behind him.
