New Delhi: Expressing his ire over the Press Club of India (PCI) cancelling his presser, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri on Wednesday alleged the “watchdogs of democracy and messiah of free speech not only banned me undemocratically but are also lying through their teeth”.
Agnihotri’s outburst came a day after the Foreign Correspondents Club in New Delhi also cancelled his press conference.
“Wow! @PCITweets also cancelled me. The watchdogs of democracy and messiah of free speech not only banned me undemocratically but are also lying through their teeth. 1. Encl are the facts. 2. They have booked earlier through our agency without any member’s recco. Receipt encl,” he wrote on the micro-blogging platform.
The filmmaker further alleged these “anti-free speech, anti-truth, agenda driven elite clubs” flourish on the government’s sprawling properties in Lutyen’s Delhi.
“When my video on FCC cancellation went viral, @PCITweets conspired with them and cancelled our presser. These anti- free speech, anti-Truth, agenda driven elite clubs flourish on Govt’s sprawling properties in Lutyen’s Delhi. It’s time for us to expose these arrogant cheats,” Agnihotri, the director of ‘The Kashmir Files’, tweeted.
Earlier, the Press Club of India had said it is not facilitating any event on May 5 by any individual or organisation, adding press conferences are allowed only with advanced booking.
“The Press Club of India is not facilitating any event on May 5 by any individual or organisation. The Club allows press conferences only with advanced booking. There is a due process, and bookings have to be done through a member of the Club,” the Press Club of India said in a tweet.
According to reports, Agnihotri’s press conference in the national capital on Thursday was to discuss the truth about the Kashmiri Hindu Genocide and ‘The Kashmir Files’ film.
