Rs 18,000 Cr Transfer, PM Modi's Address: BJP's Mega Farmer Outreach Plan For Vajpayee's Birthday On Friday

With thousands of farmers protesting on the borders of national capital against the new agri reforms, BJP has decided to launch a PAN-India initiative to mark the day.

New Delhi: Ever since Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister in 2014, the birth anniversary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee on December 25 is celebrated as Good Governance Day or Sushan Divas. This year too, it will be no different. A statue of former Prime Minister will be installed here on the occasion of his birth anniversary on December 25. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release a book titled 'Atal Bihari Vajpayee' here in Parliament on Friday -- a commemorative volume on the former Prime Minister on his 96th birth anniversary. PM Modi to transfer Rs 18,000 crore to 9 crore farmers As per reports, PM Modi will deliver an address to BJP workers and nation on Friday afternoon via video conferencing. After his address, Prime Minister will release the next installment of financial benefit under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan). PM Modi, on Vajpayee birth anniversary, will enable transfer of more than Rs 18,000 crore to over 9 crore farmers of the country. The Prime Minister will also interact with farmers of over six states during the event. "The farmers will share their experiences with PM-KISAN and also on various other initiatives taken by the government for the welfare of farmers," the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) had said. Under the PM-KISAN scheme, a financial benefit of Rs 6,000 per year is provided to small and marginal farmers, payable in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 each. The fund is transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. BJP's mega outreach program BJP leaders, from Union ministers to its MPs, MLAs, all elected representatives besides organisational members, will fan out across the country to attend the programme and speak to farmers as well. It is also being said that various Union Ministers, MPs, party officers, MLAs will be present with farmers in across the country. Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh meet farmers in the national capital. While Shah will interact with farmers of cowshed in Delhi's Mehrauli area, Nitin Gadkari will meet farmers in Assam's Silchar district. Smriti Irani will meet farmers in Uttar Pradesh's Amethi, while Ravi Shankar Prasad will be with farmers in Bihar's Patna. BJP National President has written to all his Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs and senior ministers to arrange large LEDs to telecast PM Modi's address on Good Governance Day. In a major outreach to farmers, the BJP has made plans to ensure participation of over one crore of them at thousands of venues across the nation on Friday when PM Modi transfers Rs 18,000 crore to nine crore farmers and interacts with a section of them. The exercise comes at a time when some farmer unions have been agitating for weeks at Delhi's borders against the three recently enacted farm laws and seeking that the legislations be repealed, a demand rejected by the government which has described them as beneficial for farmers. The party has made arrangements for farmers' participation in more than 19,000 venues across the country, and the party's members will also be present. In Uttar Pradesh alone, more than 3,000 venues have been chosen.
