Godse Killed Gandhi Once, But Present Day ‘Godses’ Killing Gandhi’s India Daily: Asaduddin Owaisi
"The BJP is running its shop in the name of Gandhi," Owaisi said.
New Delhi: Member of Parliament and AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday attacked the BJP-led NDA government and said that Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse had killed him once, but modern-day Godses are killing Gandhi’s India on a day-to-day basis.
“Godse had shot Gandhi once, but modern-day Godses are killing off Gandhi's Hindustan daily. I request the followers of Gandhi to save this beloved nation,” Owaisi said addressing a public rally here on Wednesday.
"We are celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The present BJP government has Nathuram Godse in its mind and Mahatma Gandhi in its words," he said.
"The BJP is running its shop in the name of Gandhi.
This government is bluffing the entire country with the name of Gandhiji," the Hyderabad MP said.
The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their attempted National Register of Citizens (NRC) drive by saying, "Narendra Modi and his Home Minister keep saying that they will bring NRC in India. They are forgetting that there is a Constitution in India," Owaisi said.
The party on Wednesday announced the seventh list of three candidates for the ensuing Maharashtra Assembly elections scheduled to be held on October 21. Ayesha Mohammed Qazi will contest on the party ticket from Miraj, Syed Taher Hussain Moinuddin will contest from Ahmedpur, and Zahid Ibrahim Shaikh will contest from Hadapsar constituency.
The list was finalised "with the approval of party chief Asaduddin Owaisi", it said.
The firebrand leader was addressing a public rally in support of AIMIM candidates in Aurangabad ahead of the October 21 assembly elections in Maharashtra.
