Ghulam Nabi Azad Flays Congress In Jammu Rally, Says His Party Will Focus On Restoration Of J&K's 'Full Statehood'

Azad, who announced forming his own party following resignation from Congress, said that his party will focus on “restoration of full statehood, right to land and employment to native domicile.”

Former Union minister and Congress veteran Ghulam Nabi Azad has been sharply criticising the party since he quit it on August 17. In his fresh salvo against the party, the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister said that Congress members are now taken to jail in a bus who are then released within one hour after calling DGP and Commissioners, reported news agency ANI.

"People from Congress now go to jail in buses, they call DGP, Commissioners, get their name written and leave within an hour. That is the reason Congress has been unable to grow,” he said while addressing a public meeting in Jammu.

Azad, who announced forming his own party following resignation from Congress after a long five-decades association, said that his party will focus on “restoration of full statehood, right to land and employment to native domicile.”

However, the party has still not decided on a name or flag, he said, adding that he will keep a “Hindustani name” so that “everyone can understand”.

“I've not decided upon a name for my party yet. The people of J&K will decide the name and the flag for the party. I'll give a Hindustani name to my party that everyone can understand,” Azad said during the event.

Azad’s resignation has turned the relationship bitter between him and his former party as the Congress has been alleging that his “DNA has been Modi-fied” after he resigned from the party.

Reacting to the allegation, the 73-year old politician hit back at the party saying meeting and talking to political rivals does not change one's DNA.
