Former CPIM councilor's daughter attempts suicide after killing 8-year-old son

According to the police sources, the woman was suffering from mental depression. The investigating officers are trying to ascertain if it was woman’s mental health that led to the incident.

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, the daughter of former CPIM councilor attempted suicide after killing her eight-year-old son in Kolkata on late Sunday night. The incident took place in Kolkata’s Dum Dum, when the woman strangulated her young son to death and thereafter attempted suicide by cutting the veins of her hands and thereafter jumping off the terrace of her house. On witnessing the incident, the woman rushed to the spot and tried to spot her from jumping off the terrace and therefore received injuries during the process. Both the woman and her mother are admitted to hospital. According to the police sources, the woman was suffering from mental depression.  The investigating officers are trying to ascertain if it was woman’s mental health that led to the incident.
