'Even Jackals Have A Few Qualities': Delhi Congress Leader Questions Top Brass On Alliance With AAP

Delhi Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit has said that AAP is worse than Jackals and questioned the party high-command over its decision to form an alliance with AAP at the national level.

As opposition parties try to put up a united front for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, there seems to be discontent in Congress over the alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Now, Delhi Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit has said that AAP is worse than Jackals (Geedad) and raised questions about AAP joining the I.N.D.I.A (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance). The leader said that Congress should have asked Kejriwal's party about its view on the UT status of Jammu and Kashmir among other issues. This comes days after the Punjab Congress unit voiced against any kind of coalition with the Aam Aadmi Party and said that the same will be communicated to party chief Mallikarjun Kharge.

When asked about Congress's alliance with AAP in I.N.D.I.A coalition, Dikshit said, "In a jungle where lions and elephants live, 'geedad' (jackals) are also present...I won't compare them (AAP) even to 'geedads' as they also have some qualities..."

Karnataka Minister's U-Turn On Mohalla Clinic, Congress's Dikshit Responds

Meanwhile, in another turn of events, Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit reacted to Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao's visit to one of the Mohalla Clinics in Delhi. Dikshit said that at times his party leaders get influenced by the glamour of CM Arvind Kejriwal and asked why they (Congress leaders) don't talk about the same to Congressmen who are living in Delhi.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Dikshit tweeted, "Wish you'd met us also @dineshgrao - wud have shown real truth of @ArvindKejriwal edu, health, finance, environment, water, roads, buses, infra, rampant corruption .......Perhaps you could have conveyed this to his new drum beaters in @INCIndia."

"At times, I feel sad when some Congress ministers who visit Delhi get influenced by his (Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal) glamour, they should ask the Congressmen living in Delhi about the reality..." the leader told ANI.

Notably, on Friday, Karnataka Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao visited a Mohalla Clinic and inquired about the facilities available there. While talking to the press, he said that the visit was an attempt to learn how the clinics work to implement new things in Karnataka. He said that the clinic is properly functioning.

However, hours later, the minister tweeted and said that it was all 'overhyped' and that he is 'disappointed'.

"Visited a Mohalla Clinic in Delhi with hardly any people there. Our Clinics in Karnataka have more facilities including a laboratory to do immediate tests for patients. I guess it is overhyped and I came back feeling disappointed," he said.

Reacting to it, AAP said that Rao received a phone call after praising the mohalla clinic initiative and thereafter changed his stance, as per PTI. In a statement, quoted by PTI, AAP said that Rao alone can clarify why his statement changed from praising the mohalla clinic to criticising. The Aam Aadmi Party called the development 'unfortunate'.
