Firm Funneled Rs 25 Cr To BJP In Electoral Bonds Amid Director's Arrest, Claims Delhi Minister Bharadwaj

Senior AAP leader and Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj claimed that a pharmacy firm paid Rs 25 crore to the BJP via electoral bonds after its director was arrested in the excise policy case.

Senior AAP leader and Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj claimed on Friday (March 22) that a pharmacy firm paid Rs 25 crore to the BJP via electoral bonds after its director was arrested in the excise policy case, news agency PTI reported.

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Bharadwaj also stated that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's life was in danger after being arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday night in connection with an excise policy-related money laundering case.

"It is being repeatedly said that there is a threat to the life of Kejriwal who has been arrested without any evidence," Bharadwaj was quoted as saying by PTI.

He claimed that a Hyderabad-based pharmaceutical company whose director was arrested by the ED in an excise policy case paid Rs 25 crore in electoral bonds to the BJP in November 2022.

"So the money trail and proceeds of crime in this excise case are heading to the BJP," he went on to say.

The minister stated that there was no evidence of a money trail or proceeds of crime against the AAP and Kejriwal, as charged.

Bharadwaj described Kejriwal's arrest as "inhuman". He also stated that the chief minister's family members, including his elderly parents, have not been allowed to meet with their relatives or AAP leaders since Thursday evening.

He told ANI, "I thank all opposition leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, MK Stalin, and Akhilesh Yadav for the love they have shown for Kejriwal ji. What is being done with Kejriwal is injustice. It is an attempt to finish a political party. Our legal experts are working on the next course of action. Our party office has been converted into a cantonment, the ITO metro station has been shut...Is there a Model Code of Conduct imposed? What is the Election Commission doing?"
