CEC Rajiv Kumar Turns Poetic As He Announces J-K Poll Schedule: 'Napak Iraadon Ke Shikasht Ki Kahani' — WATCH

Jammu-Kashmir Election Schedule 2024: In a press briefing, CEC Rajiv Kumar described the enthusiastic participation of people in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in a poetic way.

Jammu-Kashmir Election Schedule 2024: The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the election date for Haryana and Jammu-Kashmir on Friday while the poll dates for Maharashtra continue to be awaited. During the Press Conference, Chief Election Commission (CEC) of India Rajiv Kumar described the enthusiastic participation of people in the Lok Sabha elections and stated poetically, "Lambi kataron mein chhupi hai badalte surat-e-haal yani jamhooriyat ki kahani. Roshan ummeedein ab khud karengi goya apni taqdeer-e-bayani... jamhooriyat ke jash mein aapki shirkat duniya dekhegi napak iraadon ke shikasht ki kahani."

This translates into English, "In long queues, lie the changing state of affairs, This is the story of democracy. Bright hopes will now themselves narrate the tales of their own destiny. In the celebration of democracy, your participation will show the world the story of the defeat of malicious intentions."

In the press briefing, he also expressed appreciation to the people who actively participated in this Lok Sabha election in Jammu and Kashmir. He said, "This glimpse of hope and democracy shows that the people want to change the picture. They want to write their own destiny. The long queues are proof that people not only want change but also want to be a part of that change and raise their voices."

J&K Is Set To Hold Its First Assembly Polls

These poetic lines came while announcing the poll date for the Haryana and Jammu-Kashmir. The Election Commission stated that elections will be held in three phases. In Haryana, assembly elections are set to be held in a single phase.

The polls in Jammu and Kashmir will be held on 18 September, 25 September, and 1 October. In Haryana, polling will held on October 1. And, the results will be declared on October 4.

Jammu and Kashmir is set to hold its first assembly elections in over a decade. The region has been under central government rule for more than six years following the abrogation of Article 370. There is growing anticipation for the restoration of its legislative assembly.
