Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday greeted people on the occasion of Eid ul-Adha. He hoped the day would bring happiness and prosperity to everyone and also uphold the spirit of togetherness and harmony in our society. Notably, Bakrid is being observed across the globe on Thursday to commemorate the spirit of sacrifice and devotion to the Almighty, reported PTI.


"Greetings on Eid ul-Adha. May this day bring happiness and prosperity to everyone. May it also uphold the spirit of togetherness and harmony in our society. Eid Mubarak!" the Prime Minister tweeted.






Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday extended greetings for Eid-Al-Adha and stated that the festival reminds us of the values of "sacrifice, compassion, and brotherhood, which are essential in building a peaceful and inclusive world that we all aspire for". 


In greetings extended to the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Kuwait as well as the people of the country, PM Modi said that "the sacred festival of Eid Al Adha is celebrated by millions of Muslims across the length and breadth of India. It reminds us of the values of sacrifice, compassion, and brotherhood, which are essential in building a peaceful and inclusive world that we all aspire for", the Embassy mentioned in a statement.






Earlier, President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday greeted citizens on the eve of Eid-ul-Adha and urged all to take a pledge to work towards spreading mutual brotherhood and harmony in the society. The President said, “On the occasion of Id-uz-Zuha, I extend my heartiest greetings and best wishes to all fellow citizens, especially our Muslim brothers and sisters living in India and abroad."


"This festival inspires us to follow the path of sacrifice and selfless service to humanity. On this day, let all of us take a pledge to work towards spreading mutual brotherhood and harmony in the society," Murmu emphasised in her message on the eve of the festival.






Eid-al-Adha marks the culmination of the annual Hajj pilgrimage, one of the five pillars of Islam.
