Delhi Deputy CM Sisodia’s Residence Attacked By 'BJP Goons' In 'Police Presence', Alleges AAP

The Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday claimed that the house of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was “attacked by BJP goons” with the help of Delhi police.

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alleged that “BJP’s goons” attacked Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s residence on Thursday when he was not present. The party claimed that it was done with the support of the police who were present at the spot. 'Shocking visuals from videos posted online by Sisodia and AAP leaders Atishi and Raghav Chadha showed dozens of men marching up to the Deputy Chief Minister's residence and forcing their way past a handful of policemen. Six people have been arrested and a case registered, said Eish Singhal, Delhi Police PRO. Sisodia, who was not home at the time, tweeted: "Today, in my absence, BJP goons broke into my house and tried to attack my wife and children. You (tagging Union Home Minister Amit Shah, to whom Delhi Police reports) may have lost the political battle but this is how you will respond?"

Reacting to the incident, AAP leader Atishi called it a “black day” in Delhi’s political history

“This is a black day in Delhi’s political history that the Union Home Minister is now using his party goons and Delhi Police to attack the family of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in his absence from his residence,” she said at the press conference.

Delhi CM launches scathing attack on BJP

Kejriwal, whom the party alleged Tuesday had been placed under "house arrest" after visiting farmers protesting against the farm laws, said "In a democracy, it is very worrying to target political leaders in this way. In view of the seriousness of the attack on the convoy of the BJP national president, it should be thoroughly investigated and the responsibility of this incident should be fixed," he added. BJP refutes claims made by AAP While the AAP shared a video of the purported attack, the BJP, which had organised a protest outside Mr. Sisodia’s residence for allegedly being part of a plot to “kill” MCD Mayors sitting on a dharna outside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence over the last four days, countered the AAP’s allegations, stating that the “real” protest was peaceful and the video shared as evidence by the party was “fake.” BJP's vice president for the national capital, Ashok Goel Devraha claimed AAP leaders were trying to divert attention from the ‘conspiracy’ to kill BJP mayors and other corporation leaders. “We protested outside Sisodia’s residence to make it clear that the BJP workers are capable of answering any form of challenge,” he said. AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj addressed a conference On Thursday during which he also accused the police of helping the BJP workers and alleged that police “did not stop the goons” from entering Sisodia’s residence. Bhardwaj also claimed that they even removed the barricades around the house. However, the police has denied the allegations.
