Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has released a video statement ahead of the first Joint Action Committee meeting scheduled for March 22, where state leaders and chief ministers will discuss the proposed delimitation exercise.

In his address, Stalin emphasized the significance of fair delimitation, stating, as per ANI, "Fair delimitation is the talk of the town right now. Why has the DMK brought this to focus? Because in 2026, delimitation will happen. And if the delimitation exercise is carried out based on population, our representation in Parliament will be severely affected...This is not just about the number of MPs but about our State's rights. This is why we have convened a meeting of all parties. Except the BJP, every other party stood together as one..."

JAC Meeting On Delimitation In Chennai

The meeting, set to take place in Chennai, will see the participation of chief ministers from Kerala, Telangana, and Punjab, along with Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister and other political leaders. Stalin had previously reached out to various political figures across the country, urging them to oppose the proposed delimitation framework.

A recent all-party meeting in Chennai, convened by Stalin, saw widespread opposition to the proposal. However, the BJP skipped the meet.

The JAC reportedly aims to solidify a collective stance on the issue and chart a course of action to safeguard the interests of states potentially affected by the changes.
