Delhi Weather Update: Monsoon Hits National Capital, Heavy Rain Observed In Parts Of NCR
Weather experts say the monsoon will give good amounts of rain in the region for the next 10 days.
New Delhi: Delhi saw a dramatic change in weather on Thursday morning as good amounts of rain lashed the capital and its adjoining areas like Noida. The spell of rain was a huge relief from the high day temperature and humidity. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted the Southwest monsoon to hit Delhi on June 30. It also forecasts good amounts of rain for the next 10 days in the city and its adjoining areas after the onset.
Weather experts suggest the monsoon will yield good amounts of rainfall in the first 10 days of onset and help cover the rain deficit in Delhi. The city has received just 24.5 mm of rainfall against the monthly normal of 66.7 mm since June 1, all of it being recorded between June 16-20.

The IMD has issued an orange alert, warning of moderate rainfall in the city on June 30. The maximum temperature is likely to drop by almost 6-7 degrees Celsius by July 1. The southwest monsoon usually arrives in the national capital on June 27.
Senior IMD Scientist R K Jenamani told PTI that there was a prediction of good rainfall in the city on June 30 and the arrival of monsoon could be declared on Thursday or Friday.
"Pre-monsoon convection may lead to light rainfall in the national capital on Wednesday evening and provide relief from the heat," PTI quoted Jenamani as saying.
