Unlock 3.0: Weekly Markets, Hotels To Reopen In Delhi; Gyms To Remain Closed - Check Details Here

New Delhi: The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Wednesday gave nod to reopen hotels in the national capital in order to revive more economic activities under Unlock 3.0. The decision was taken during a DDMA meeting, chaired by Lt Governor Anil Baijal who also heads the Delhi State Disaster Management Authority. Delhi government led by Aam Aadmi Party’s Arvind Kejriwal has been keen on reopening of hotels, gyms and weekly markets in Delhi. It had even sent a proposal in this regard twice to Baijal citing the decline in the number of COVID- 19 cases in the national capital. On July 30, Delhi government decided to end night curfew and allow more economic activities, including the normal functioning of hospitality services. The government had also allowed weekly markets on a trial basis for seven days with social distancing and all necessary COVID 19-appropriate measures in place. However, the very next day, LG Anil Baijal on July 31 rejected the Delhi government's decision to allow hotels and weekly markets under Unlock 3, citing the "fragile" situation amid Coronavirus pandemic. The LG had refused the Kejriwal government plan to open hotels on a trial basis. The development has come at the time when Delhi reported 1,398 new COVID-19 cases, 1,320 recoveries and 9 deaths over the last 24 hours. Going by the state health bulletin, the total number of cases are now at 1,56,139 including 1,40,767 discharged/recovered/migrated patients, 11,137 active cases and 4,235 deaths.
