Delhi Police Finds Bike Used For Carrying IED To Ghazipur Market Last Month

The Special Cell of Delhi Police has found a bike, which, they suspect, was used to carry the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) recovered from Ghazipur flower market last month.

New Delhi: The Special Cell of Delhi Police has found a bike, which, they suspect, was used to carry the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) recovered from Ghazipur flower market last month, news agency ANI reported.

The bike, which was stolen in 2020, was found parked in the parking lot of Dilshad Garden metro station. The Special Cell of Delhi Police is responsible for collecting, collating and disseminating anti-terror intelligence apart from launching its anti-terror operations.

The National Security Guard (NSG), in its final post-blast investigation report, said that the IED found in Delhi's Ghazipur flower market last week had ammonium nitrate and Royal Demolition eXplosive (RDX) and a timer attached to it, the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported last month.

The NSG submitted its report to the Delhi Police on January 17, according to the PTI report.

Though the RDX was used as the core explosive in the IED, it did not blow off as there was a "glitch" in the circuit, according to the investigation report.

The IED, weighing three kilograms, was found in an unattended bag in the busy flower market of Ghazipur on January 14. After this, a team of NSG's bomb disposal squad and officials from the Special Cell of Delhi Police were rushed to the spot, according to reports.

In order to defuse the IED, the NSG had sent experts from its National Bomb Data Centre (NBDC) based on Haryana's Manesar.
